Adobe Premiere mobile is now available on Android, giving creators another option for editing videos directly from their smartphones. The app was launched on iPhone last year and is now rolling out for free to Android users around the world.
The mobile app is aimed at creators who shoot, edit and publish content from their phones. That includes everything from daily vlogs and tutorials to podcast clips, YouTube Shorts and other social media videos. Adobe says Premiere mobile brings several professional editing tools to mobile while keeping the experience simple enough for everyday creators.
For creators in India, Adobe sees smartphones playing an increasingly important role in content production. Diksha Kuhar, Director, Product Marketing, Premiere mobile, Adobe, said, “With 95% of Indian creators already being mobile-first, the smartphone is fast becoming the studio for India’s next generation of creators.”
She added, “We're excited to offer Premiere mobile on iOS and now on Android devices, putting Adobe’s pro-quality video tools into the hands of millions of creators in India for free.”
Adobe Premiere Mobile Features
A major part of Premiere mobile is its focus on giving creators more control over both video and audio. The app comes with Enhance Audio, which can reduce distracting background noise and improve the clarity of recordings. This can be particularly useful when shooting interviews, voiceovers or other videos in noisy surroundings.
The app also supports frame-accurate editing, allowing users to make precise cuts, trim clips and time edits to music or specific moments in a video.
There is a multi-track timeline as well, where creators can work with multiple layers of video, music, voiceovers, text and effects in the same project. This gives users more flexibility when putting together short-form videos or more detailed edits.
Premiere mobile also includes creator-made templates for users who want to get an edit started quickly. Creators can use these templates as they are or customise them according to their own content.
For additional creative options, users can add effects, transitions, music and other assets from Adobe Stock. They can also use their own files or extract audio from existing content.
4K Video Editing And No Watermarks
Adobe Premiere mobile supports editing and exporting videos at resolutions of up to 4K. This means creators can work with higher-resolution footage directly on compatible Android smartphones rather than having to move every project to a computer.
Adobe is also taking a different approach to some mobile editing apps when it comes to the editing experience. Premiere mobile does not require a forced login to start creating and does not bombard users with upgrade prompts while they are working.
The app is also free of ads and watermarks, according to Adobe.
Firefly AI Tools Come To Premiere Mobile
Premiere mobile also includes several generative AI capabilities powered by Adobe Firefly.
These include Generative Fill, which can be used to modify or extend visual content, along with Image-to-Video for creating video content from images. Users can also generate sound effects with the Generate Sound Effects feature.
These tools are designed to help creators generate additional assets when working on a project, rather than having to create or source every element separately.
The free version of Premiere mobile includes the core video editing tools, while Adobe will offer upgrades for users who need additional generative credits and storage.
More Features Are Coming
Adobe has also confirmed that the current version is not the end of its mobile Premiere roadmap.
Upcoming features include Adobe Fonts, enhanced captions, keyframes, cropping and beat detection. Adobe also plans to allow users to continue working on projects in Premiere desktop, which could make it easier to move between phone and computer-based editing.
The company says these additions will further expand what creators can do from their phones while keeping mobile editing connected with the broader Premiere ecosystem.
What Creators Say
Adobe says the Android version has been developed with feedback from creators who have been using Premiere mobile. Several creators highlighted the benefit of having more advanced editing capabilities available on a smartphone.
Adhiraj Singh Anand said that much of his shooting happens in places where controlling the surrounding sound is difficult.
“A lot of what I shoot happens on the go, usually in places where I can’t control the sound around me,” he said. “So being able to clean things up afterwards with Enhance Audio gives me more room to just focus on the moment and worry about the sound in the edit.”
Travel creator Mohanraj Thangaraj said the Android app can be particularly useful when he is away from his laptop.
“Adobe Premiere on mobile gives Android creators the freedom to edit professional-quality content wherever they are,” he said. “For me, it’s especially useful while travelling, when I may not have my laptop with me.”
He said he uses the app to turn drone footage, camera footage and smartphone clips into short-form vertical videos for Instagram and YouTube.
Katarina Mogus highlighted the YouTube Shorts templates in Premiere mobile. “With Premiere mobile’s YouTube Shorts templates, I can take something I just recorded, easily find a template that fits the vibe I’m trying to create and quickly turn it into something that’s ready to share while it’s still relevant to my audience,” she said.
Vimal Sharma also pointed to the balance between professional tools and ease of use.
“The fact that it delivers pro-quality video editing without the complexity including tools for studio-quality sound, control over every frame and more, makes me want to use it over other editing apps,” he said.
Adobe Premiere Mobile Android Availability
Adobe Premiere mobile is available now through the Google Play Store for Android devices running Android 13 or later. The app requires a minimum of 5GB of RAM.
The Android release expands Premiere mobile beyond Apple's ecosystem and puts Adobe's mobile editing tools in the hands of a much larger group of creators. Along with standard editing features, the app combines 4K export, multi-track editing, audio enhancement, templates, creative assets and Firefly-powered
