Nothing has announced a revamped Essential Space app, making it easier for users to save, organise, and share content directly on Android devices from anywhere. The feature, first introduced with the Nothing Phone 3a series and later integrated into its successor model – the Nothing Phone 3 – serves as an AI-powered productivity hub that helps manage daily tasks more efficiently.
Essential Space Now Integrated into Android’s Share Sheet
The biggest change in this update is that Essential Space now appears in Android’s native Share menu. This means users can send articles, social posts, music, or other media straight to Essential Space without manually opening the app.

According to Nothing’s announcement on X (formerly Twitter), this move aims to make the hub a more seamless part of the Android experience. Whether you’re saving a post from X, a YouTube link, or an image, a quick tap on Share → Essential Space now lets you store and organise everything in one place.
The update is being rolled out automatically for users with auto-updates enabled, while others can install it manually via the Google Play Store.
Recent Additions: Call Recording and AI-Powered Tools
Earlier this month, Nothing also added a call recording feature to Essential Space for the Phone 3, 3a, and 3a Pro. Users can start recording by long-pressing the Essential Key or tapping “Start recording” in the notification bar. Each recording is saved inside Essential Space and automatically transcribed with AI-generated highlights, making it easier to revisit key points from calls.
Currently, this feature is available in India, the UK, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, with broader rollout expected soon.

What Makes Essential Space Unique
Nothing’s Essential Space acts as more than just a notes app — it’s a central AI hub built into the phone’s hardware via the Essential Key, placed on the right edge of the device. It allows users to:
- Capture screenshots, voice notes, and photos instantly
- Create reminders and collections
- Export data as images, PDFs, or Markdown files
- Get AI summaries and topic highlights for quick insights
Essential Space continues to evolve from a neat productivity tool into a core part of the Nothing ecosystem. With this new share integration and expanding AI features, the company is positioning it as an intelligent workspace for the modern smartphone user — one tap away at all times.
