South Korean giant Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 at the highly-anticipated Unpacked event in Seoul on July 26. And soon before that OnePlus shared an official update on microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) about its foldable device, which is the centre of attention now.

The Chinese smartphone maker wrote: "We OPEN when others FOLD," possibly addressing their remarks to the newly launched Z Fold 5, Google Pixel Fold, Tecno Phantom V Fold and the upcoming OnePlus foldable. We already have a reserve of hints about the upcoming device. Here are the tipped specifications and launch date of the handset that will likely launch in August.

OnePlus Open Specifications (expectations)

According to a MySmartPrice report, the OnePlus Open could have a 7.8-inch main and 6.3-inch external screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Under the hood, the device could have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip for performance and up to 16GB RAM. It will likely run on Android 13.

A 4,800mAh battery could sit on the back of the phone, which may support 67W wired and 10W (or maybe 15W) wireless charging. It may have a triple camera setup with a 48MP (primary) + 48MP (ultra-wide) + 64MP (telephoto with 3X zoom) lens on the back.

OnePlus Open Launch Date (Tipped)

The first foldable smartphone from OnePlus will likely launch on August 29, according to Max Jambor, a reliable tipster. It may arrive in two colour options - Green and Black.

The company has given several hints about the upcoming device on numerous occasions, like the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 and OnePlus 11 launch event. Considering Samsung freshly unveiled its fifth generation foldable phones and the presence of the relatively less-priced Tecno Phantom V Fold, OnePlus will likely add a third option to the list of foldable buyers next month.
