SOON after launching the much-hyped OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite bar handset, the Chinese smartphone maker is reportedly planning to launch the OnePlus foldable smartphone in August 2023. Tipster Max Jambor shared the update on Twitter. While users were digesting the news of the confirmed debut of the Google Pixel Fold, the update is overwhelming for buyers looking to get their hands on a foldable mobile in future.
For more details, a trademark listing in China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), spotted by 9To5Google (via @stufflistings), revealed that the phones could come with the names - OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip.

Additionally, when the event of the OnePlus 11 ended with a teaser, it displayed two devices (possibly) folded in a V-shape with the text -"Coming in Q3," hinting at the launch. Moreover, as per the report, the brand confirmed at MWC Barcelona that a foldable phone would launch in the "second half" of this year. OnePlus, with the announcement, will swim with Google, Samsung, Oppo and Tecno in the foldable market.
"Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn't settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today's foldable market," Kinder Liu, President and COO of the company, said at that time.
Moving on to some leaked specifications, @ShishirShelke1, on Twitter claimed it could have an 8-inch QHD+ 120Hz LTPO main panel, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 50MP + 48MP+ 64MP (periscope) back, 32MP selfie cameras and a 4800mAh battery. However, a user must note these are not official specifications.
Meanwhile, reports in the past have hinted that Samsung could announce the launch of the upcoming iteration of the foldable phones - Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 somewhere in July. It seems OnePlus is planning to utilise the vacancy that Samsung could create with a preponed debut. OnePlus's BBK cousin Oppo has already announced the foldable Find N2 Flip handset in India.
