SAMSUNG, on the expected lines, will bring the next iteration of the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip models this year. And recent leaks hint that this could happen sooner than expected. According to reports, it is possible that the upcoming handset could debut in July this year instead of August.

According to tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve), Samsung starts producing hinges used in the foldable phone towards the end of June. However, this year, the production could begin towards the start of June, as per the information.

"Samsung Electronics usually starts mass production of foldable phone hinges at the end of June, but this year they will start mass production at the beginning of June. It's also possible that the Galaxy foldable will be released in July this year," Revegnus said.

If this turns out to be correct, the upgrades might debut before their predecessors complete one year. For context, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 debuted in August. Generally, the India launch of the handsets replicates the global launch in the Galaxy Unpacked event in August.

Meanwhile, the expected specifications of both handsets are listed in various reports. According to Gadgets360, the Z Fold 5 could have a 'droplet' hinge and IPX8 rating. While not much information on screen configuration is available, the Z Fold 5 could sport the same-sized cover screen.

Under the hood, the handset could have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip for Galaxy. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will likely run on OneUI 5.1.1 based on Android 13. Coming to storage, three variants each for both handsets could be announced. The Z Fold 5 might debut with - 256GB, 512GB and 1TB models. On the other hand, the Z Flip 5 could have - 128GB, 256GB and 512GB configurations.

Speaking of optics, a 50MP primary sensor, 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto may be present on the upcoming Fold. On Flip 5, a 12MP primary sensor with 12MP ultra-wide is tipped.

Finally, 2023 would prove different for Samsung as contenders in the foldable industry have started appearing. Tecno recently unveiled the Phantom V Fold 5G in India. Earlier, the Oppo Find N2 Flip debuted in India. It clashes with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in terms of price.
