SOUTH Korean smartphone maker Samsung will announce the fifth iteration of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models in India this year. While the current models of the Z Flip pack a mini outer display, this might change in 2023. With the debut of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung could cash in a relatively bigger cover screen with a 'folder-shaped' design, as per leaks.

Popular tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) leaked an alleged render of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. In the images, the phone is visible in a light green shade with a comparatively larger display and a slight extension of the screen next to the cameras, resulting in a folder screen display.

As per the tweet, Samsung is reportedly now working on the software part. Other notable changes include a horizontal camera array compared to the vertical one on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. A centre punch hole is evident on the screen in the images. On the bottom, a USB Type-C port with a speaker grill and microphone is visible.

The current iteration of the Flip has a vacant space above the camera and the display. At the moment, the cover display can be used to capture photos, answer calls and messages, check notifications, control quick toggles and more. If reports turn out true, Samsung will likely utilise this space to add more usability to the cover screen.

Other Leaked Specifications

Meanwhile, speaking of the other tipped changes, the handset is tipped to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip for performance. As per SamMobile, the foldable handsets could debut with OneUI 5.1.1 based on Android 13. Recently, a 3C listing revealed it might support 25W charging. Speaking of optics, a 12MP primary and 12MP ultra-wide sensor is tipped on the phone. It is reported to have Always-On functionality similar to iOS, as per Gadgets360.

While Samsung was the lone competitor in the category for quite some time, the upcoming Flip 5 will face the heat from Oppo's Find N2 Flip.
