Oppo has officially announced ColorOS 16, its next major software update based on Android 16, promising a smoother UI, smarter AI, and improved cross-device features. The new update will debut globally — including in India — with the launch of the Oppo Find X9 series and will roll out to other eligible Oppo smartphones over the coming months.
Redesigned Interface and Smoother Performance
According to Oppo, ColorOS 16 offers a more seamless visual experience and better responsiveness overall. Users can expect a revamped UI this time round, with transition animations finally updated among the new stuff and system apps (like the dialler) being remade to make them appear cleaner and more fluid.

The Luminous Rendering Engine reduces hardly any time lag in moving graphics and the Trinity engine is designed to improve gaming performance as well as for continuous performance on high load. Together, they work in harmony to make the overall experience on the Q6 pleasurable and streamlined across various use cases; launching apps, scrolling through contacts and multitasking all look smooth.
Oppo has also included a "performance enhancement" feature – dubbed Project Breeze – which is said to optimise the UI for better response and power efficiency.
More Personalisation With the Flux Home Screen
Flux Home Screen offers one of the biggest visual changes, enabling users to long-press on folder or app icons and drag them around to create larger icons with unique shapes for an eye-catching layout. Users can also set Motion Photos or videos as wallpaper, select from more font styles, and have AI suggest what would look best against different wallpaper colors and patterns.
The Always-On Display (AOD) mode has also been upgraded, supporting interactive widgets and offering additional customisation options.
AI Photography and Editing Upgrades
ColorOS 16 adds new AI features to boost Oppo’s photography experience. The AI Portrait Glow feature enhances portraits in low light by automatically adjusting lighting and skin tones to create a studio-like effect.
Other AI tools include:
AI Eraser – remove unwanted objects from photos.
AI Unblur – sharpen blurry images.
AI Reflection Remover – remove reflections from glass or water surfaces.
Master Cut, Oppo’s in-house video editor, has also been added to the list of advanced editing features, such as trimming and speed control, alongside filters, sticker images, text and the ability to manually adjust contrast, brightness and saturation for those creators or vloggers out there.

Better Cross-Device Experience
There is also a major update to the O+ Connect suite in ColorOS 16, which includes broader support for both macOS and Windows. Now, users can replicate their phone’s screen on a computer and interact with as many as five apps at once with a mouse and keyboard. The movement of files, clipboard sharing and notifications have been made faster and more reliable.
Rollout and Availability
The rollout will commence with the Oppo Find X9 series and extend to other models in a staggered way over the course of this year. According to Oppo, the update will start rolling out to eligible devices toward the end of 2025 and region-wise schedules will be shared closer to the time of deployment.
In brief: ColorOS 16 is Oppo’s most polished software ever—faster, smarter and more customisable, fusing Android 16’s sleek base with Oppo’s iconic design flair and powerful AI features.
