Vivo recently unveiled OriginOS 6, signalling a significant evolution for their global smartphone lineup. This The upgrade replaces Funtouch OS and brings with it cleaner designs, faster performance, and greater AI integration. OriginOS 6 beta testing is underway now, with public roll-out beginning November 2025.
A Fresh, Unified Design Language
OriginOS 6 introduces an entirely new design system known as Origin Design that strives for visual consistency across icons, fonts and layouts. As a result of translucent elements with layered shadows as well as depth effects like Gradual Blur, Dynamic Glow and Translucent Colour effects the user experience becomes lighter and more modern.
Vivo unveiled their system typeface – Vivo Sans – which supports over 40 languages and allows variable weight adjustments, creating more adaptable and legible text.

Performance and Smoothness Upgrades
Underneath OriginOS 6 lies the Origin Smooth Engine, designed to speed app launches and enable multitasking more smoothly. According to Vivo's claim of 18.5% faster cold-start speeds, 10.5% greater frame-rate stability, and 106% faster data loading in heavy usage scenarios, OriginOS 6 promises faster cold-start speeds as well as greater frame-rate stability than its predecessor OS, Android.
Dual Rendering Architecture offers a 35% improvement to animation fluidity, while the 8+1 Ultra-Core Computing System and Memory Fusion provide smoother app switching and better background process management.
For high-demand situations, Vivo’s Snap-Up Engine intelligently reallocates computing resources — especially useful for tasks like ticket booking or fast app responses.
Smarter AI and Productivity Features
AI takes centre stage in OriginOS 6. The update adds tools like:
AI Retouch – erase, expand, and enhance photos seamlessly.
AI Creation – assists with writing, summarisation, and proofreading.
DocMaster – smart document editing for PDFs and Word files.
AI Search – natural language queries across apps and files.
AI Captions – real-time speech-to-text and translation.
There’s also Origin Island, an evolution of the punch-hole notch, offering live updates and contextual suggestions through Android 16’s Live Updates API. Users can perform actions like Copy & Go or Drag & Go directly from notifications.
Power Efficiency, Privacy, and Cross-Device Integration
Vivo says OriginOS 6 improves battery efficiency by reducing background consumption up to 90 mA for heavy users, with 10–20% CPU efficiency gains — translating to roughly 30 minutes more battery life.
A new Private Space lets users isolate sensitive apps or files and even run dual app instances for personal and work profiles. The upgraded Vivo Security Framework enhances transparency and data protection through on-device intelligence.
Cross-device integration gets better too, with Office Kit and Connection Center offering one-tap file sharing, screen mirroring, and task handoff between Vivo phones, PCs, and tablets.
