Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup is just days away from launch, but fresh reports suggest the price tags may not see the sweeping hikes many were expecting. According to JPMorgan’s latest research note, most models could stay close to last year’s levels, with only the Pro version tipped for an increase.

The entry-level iPhone 17 is expected to remain at $799, mirroring the iPhone 16. The all-new iPhone 17 Air, which replaces the Plus model, is being pegged between $899 and $949. For comparison, the iPhone 16 Plus debuted at $899. The iPhone 17 Pro, however, is likely to jump by $100, taking its price to $1,099. Apple’s top-end iPhone 17 Pro Max may continue at $1,199.

The Pro’s higher cost comes with a trade-off: more storage. Apple is reportedly dropping the 128GB base variant, starting instead with 256GB as the default. Last year’s iPhone 16 Pro cost $999 for 128GB and $1,099 for 256GB—so while the sticker price rises, buyers now get more storage upfront.

Among the four models, the iPhone 17 Air is generating the most buzz. Designed to be slimmer than any previous iPhone, it may command a slightly higher price, though analysts believe Apple could keep it near the outgoing Plus model to attract more buyers.

For India, the picture looks familiar if Apple follows its usual pattern. The iPhone 16 series started at Rs 79,900, with the Plus at Rs 89,900, the Pro at Rs 1,19,900, and the Pro Max at Rs 1,44,900. Based on JPMorgan’s estimates, the iPhone 17 and 17 Air could stay in the Rs 79,900–89,900 range, while the Pro might edge closer to Rs 1,30,000. The Pro Max could remain unchanged at Rs 1,44,900.

If these numbers hold, Indian buyers won’t see major shocks. The Pro may cost more, but the rest of the lineup should stay in familiar territory. With upgrades in design and storage, Apple’s pricing strategy could even be seen as favourable if the Pro Max sticks to last year’s figure.
