Sam Altman News: OpenAI was recently in the news for the turmoil around the controversial firing of Sam Altman from the position of CEO by the company's board. While rumours speculated his comeback in the morning, Altman is indeed making a return at OpenAI as CEO with the new board of "Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo." The update was shared by OpenAI and Altman on X, formerly Twitter.
On the other hand, Greg Brockman also posted he is also returning to OpenAI. A day before his comeback and the news of his appointment at Microsoft in the AI division, Altman said that the top priority will be to ensure that OpenAI "continues to thrive".
"I love OpenAI, and everything I've done over the past few days has been in service of keeping this team and its mission together. When I decided to join Microsoft on Sunday evening, it was clear that was the best path for me and the team. With the new board and Satya's support, I'm looking forward to returning to OpenAI, and building on our strong partnership with Microsoft [edited for readability]," Altman posted on X today.
The remarks came after OpenAI said: "We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo." The reinstatement comes days after the appointment of Mira Murati and Emmett Shear as interim CEO of the company.
