South Korean giant Samsung recently announced the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 in India. Soon after the debut of the clamshell, we heard details about the camera sensor of the Z Flip. And now a reliable tipster has another exciting update on a Samsung foldable, which could be good news for buyers looking for relatively affordable foldable devices.

According to Revegnus, rumours suggest that the smartphone maker is testing a 'lite model' called the Galaxy Z FE that may launch after the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. @Tech_Reve also added that the highly-anticipated Galaxy S23 FE will also be released soon. After the launch, the company aims to release Fan Edition offerings at regular intervals.

"The S23 FE is set to be released soon, and there are possibilities that Samsung plans to consistently introduce the FE brand annually. Simultaneously, there are rumours of ongoing testing for the launch of the Galaxy Z FE (lite model), after the Fold/Flip 6," Revegnus posted on X (formerly called Twitter).

Samsung Galaxy Z FE: What To Expect?

The smartphone could be a cheaper alternative to the current iteration of Fold devices from the company which starts from around Rs 1,00,000. Considering the company is already an old player with five generations of phones in the market, the FE badging could be a smart move to bring these innovative screens to a larger audience.

It could have toned down specifications compared to the top-of-the-specs like the Snapdragon 8 series flagship chips and other premium elements. Speaking of other cheaper offerings, there are rumours of Tecno unveiling its Phantom V Flip at a comparatively lesser price. Motorola Razr 40 is another foldable that starts from Rs 59,999.

Speaking of the foldable market in general, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and OPPO Find N2 Flip are the latest clamshells that compete with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in India. As for rivals to Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Tecno Phantom V Fold, which is the most affordable book-style foldable, is the competition to the phone.
