Samsung, a South Korean smartphone maker, has finally launched its One UI 6 beta program in select regions for its latest flagship S23 series phones. The lineup of eligible devices includes (currently) Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. This new software is based on Google's Android 14, which will release soon.

According to the Samsung Newsroom, the beta trails acts as a "precursor" for the stable release due to the feedback mechanism for improvements. The elements in the UI have been tweaked to create a new and modern look.

OneUI 6 Beta Features

Among the new changes include a revamped font and new emojis for the Samsung Keyboard, default availability of brightness meter in the Quick Panel and a single swipe from the top right to open the notification panel.

Users can adjust lock screens based on specific Modes and Routines. For instance, users can try out a "calming photo" in Sleep Mode. A new camera widget allows users to set a particular mode in the camera and a location path for one category of photos.

The South Korean giant added that these are just a few changes in the new OS and highlighted more features await users in the full build. Other than features, the OS brings "robust security and privacy" for the user.

At the moment, only Galaxy S23 users can join the program to try out One UI 6 based on Android 14. The OS has not been released for the relatively new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. They will likely be added to the list soon.

OneUI 6 Beta Availability

According to India Newsroom post, the program is live in the United States, Germany and South Korea. The blog is silent about a release in India. However, considering the past track record, it will likely release for Indian users soon.
