Samsung’s plans for 2026 are slowly coming into focus as internal software hints at six premium devices already in development. While yearly refreshes for the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series are expected, the emergence of specific model numbers provides a clearer sense of how Samsung is structuring next year’s lineup.
Three Galaxy S26 Models Appear In Early Listings
According to details spotted by Android Authority inside unreleased software, Samsung has prepared three S-series identifiers: SM-S942, SM-S947 and SM-S948. These are believed to map to the Galaxy S26, the mid-tier S26 variant and the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The main uncertainty revolves around the naming of the middle device. Samsung briefly revived the “Edge” branding this year, leading to speculation about whether it will continue the experiment or revert to the more familiar “Plus” label. The leaked list does not mention an S26 Edge, aligning with earlier reports that Samsung may have shelved it due to underwhelming performance of the recent model. How Samsung chooses to brand SM-S947 will shape its price, positioning and role in the lineup.

Older naming patterns suggest SM-S942 may belong to the S26 Pro, while SM-S948 is clearly the Ultra model. Until Samsung confirms its final naming strategy, the mid-tier slot remains the biggest question in the S26 family.
Foldables Also Feature in Samsung’s 2026 Pipeline
The same leak highlights three foldable model numbers: SM-F971, SM-F776 and SM-F976. These are expected to represent the Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE, the standard Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. This indicates Samsung plans to maintain its current two-category foldable approach, keeping both Flip and Fold devices active for another cycle.
The potential arrival of a Flip FE signals Samsung’s willingness to explore more accessible pricing in the foldable segment. A lower-cost model could attract users who have been curious about foldables but hesitant due to the premium price tags. Meanwhile, the Z Fold 8 continues Samsung’s focus on high-end large-screen foldables.
No Tri-Fold Successor Yet, But It May Still Come
A noticeable omission in this early roadmap is the absence of a successor to Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold model, which is expected to debut later this year. Because the first tri-fold will likely launch in limited markets and low quantities, Samsung may be waiting to assess market response before assigning a second-generation model number. A future variant could still appear once plans for this ultra-premium category solidify.

There is also discussion around a new slim smartphone that is unrelated to the cancelled S26 Edge experiment, but this too is missing from early listings. More identifiers may emerge as Samsung’s 2026 lineup moves deeper into development.
