Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor is soon to launch in India, and it's already looking like the brains behind some of the most capable smartphones of the year. OnePlus, iQOO, Realme, Poco, and Xiaomi have all officially announced that they'll be launching their top-end devices powered by the latest chipset in the country.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 – What's New?

Based on TSMC's cutting-edge 3nm N3P process, the new chip offers up to 23% increased performance and 20% improved efficiency over the previous year's Snapdragon 8 Elite. It also features improvements to the CPU, GPU, and NPU, as well as a new APV codec for improved video recording quality—something creators will appreciate in particular.

OnePlus 15

The OnePlus 15 will be one of the first to host the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It's rumoured to come with a 165 Hz LTPO OLED panel (the first on the brand), a 6.7-inch 1.5K display, and a 50 MP three-camera system. The phone will ship with ColorOS 16 operating on Android 16 out of the box, providing the latest software experience.

iQOO 15

The iQOO 15 looks set to impress gamers with its 6.85-inch 2K Samsung “Everest” display, 144 Hz refresh rate, and a staggering 6,000 nits peak brightness. A 3,200 Hz touch sampling rate is also on board for lightning-fast response times. Under the hood, it pairs the Snapdragon chip with a 7,000mAh battery, 100W wired and wireless charging, and a colour-changing rear design.

Realme GT 8 Pro

Realme’s GT 8 Pro takes a slightly different path by including a dedicated R1 graphics chip alongside Qualcomm’s flagship processor. This dual-core gaming setup is designed to handle demanding titles with ease. Expected features include a flat 2K display, stereo speakers, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, and potentially a 7,000mAh battery—making it one of the longest-lasting flagships around.

Poco F8 Pro

The Poco F8 Pro is also confirmed to join the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 lineup. While full details are under wraps, reports point to a 2K OLED screen, dual speakers, and an enormous 7,100mAh battery. Staying true to Poco’s F-series identity, it is expected to offer top-tier performance at an aggressive price point.
