Samsung Galaxy Tips: Samsung has been delivering smartphone devices for a long time now and it has come a long way from a bloatware-loaded software interface, mediocre design and settings that didn't really make sense, Samsung has amped up its game and has introduced the One UI for a smoother user experience since 2018. It is much more flexible when it comes to customisation and much better looking, to be honest, but nothing is perfect and even this comes with its set of drawbacks.
Now if you observe closely several useful settings are turned off by default, weird right? And you don't always know how to turn off the features that unnecessarily bother you. Now if you have a Galaxy phone or you have got your hands on the latest flagship here are some tips that can help you make your Galaxy snappier.
Make A Switch To Gesture Navigation
Now this is an old Android feature but somehow Android devices still get the three-button navigation bar by default out of the box. Now this is preference-based, but I prefer the Gesture navigation as it makes your usage much more snappier. It is easier to navigate, switch between apps, and exit and close several apps at once. To enable this just head to Settings > Display > Navigation bar and select Swipe gestures. You can also adjust the sensitivity on this.

Tweak Your Power Key's Actions
Depending on which Galaxy device you have, interacting with the power button might either take you to Samsung's Bixby assistant or Google Gemini which is fine if that's your preference but if you like it the old school way where pressing and holding the power button takes you to the power menu you just need to follow these steps, head to Settings > Advanced features > Side button and choose Power off menu for the press-and-hold action, here you can also select if you want to turn on the flash etc. You can also tweak the double press action here which is set to open camera by default.
Bixby To The Rescue
Lying on your bed and don't want to get up and answer your phone that's charging and is out of your hands reach not to worry Bixby got your back. Just head to Settings and search Bixby, tap on the option saying Talk To Bixby Without Wake-Up, then under the option just toggle switch on the option on the top and you are done. Now answer your phone without leaving the comfort of your bed.
Samsung has given its lock screen a fresh new look in One UI 7. By default, notifications now appear as small icons in the top left corner. However, you can simply swipe down anywhere on the screen to expand them into full notification cards. At the bottom, there’s also a new "Now Bar" that provides quick access to relevant information — more on that in a bit.
Smart Screen Settings
You don’t always need to press the power button to wake your Samsung Galaxy phone. With a few tweaks, you can make the screen turn on automatically when you lift the device. You can also double-tap the screen to wake it up and double-tap again to turn it off. If your phone keeps timing out while you’re reading something, there’s a simple fix for that too. Head to Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures and toggle on Lift to wake, Double tap to turn on the screen, and Double tap to turn off the screen. To stop the screen from timing out while you’re actively looking at it, go to Settings > Display > Screen timeout and enable Keep screen on while viewing. With these adjustments, your phone becomes more intuitive, staying on when you need it and turning off when you don’t.
Modes And Routines
Now there is this app Modes and Routines and this will turn your life around, and it is pre-installed on the Galaxy devices which had 5.1 and above. Just tap on the app icon and then there are two options at the bottom of the screen called "Modes" and the other is "Routines".
In Modes, there are 6 options that you can select from like Sleep, Theater, Work, Driving, Exercise and Relax. Now I have optimised it for Work, where you can customise it by selecting time or location and then you can choose the function your device does when you reach that location or time.
So I have selected my workplace location and I have customised it to turn on Do Not Disturb, and automatically switch to power saving mode, I have also integrated my workplace app with it which opens up automatically when you reach the location. You can customise this feature even more. Isn't that amazing? The "Routines" option is also somewhat similar. "Routines" offer greater flexibility, enabling you to create custom automations triggered by specific events and actions.
How to Show All Notifications on the Lock Screen
If you prefer to see all your notifications right on the lock screen instead of just icons, you can tweak the settings. Here’s how:
-Go to Settings > Notifications > Lock screen notifications.
-Select Cards to show full notifications.
-Use the Show content or Hide content toggle below to control whether notification details are displayed.
-Turn on Show alerting notifications only to hide non-urgent updates, like weather alerts, from cluttering your lock screen.
Extra Features You Should Enable
Samsung also includes a few hidden gems that aren’t turned on by default. In the Notifications hub, tap on Advanced settings to unlock more control.
Notification History: Ever accidentally swipe away an important notification? This feature keeps a log, so you can always go back and check.
Snooze Button: Need a reminder to check something later? Turn on the snooze function by enabling the Show Snooze button. Once activated, a small bell icon will appear on your notification card. Tap it to set a reminder.
Now I hope this article helps you get the best out of your Galaxy device, so go on and experiment with these settings and make your Samsung Galaxy Experience even more seamless and snappier.
