Telegram, a popular instant messaging application, announced several new features for users on its app. The update allows users to quote a particular portion of messages while replying to chats, add quote formatting, manage previews of links, opt for profile colours and more. If you use the encrypted messages app, here is everything new on Telegram you should know.

Quote Parts Of Messages

Users can now quote a particular section of a user chat to deliver contextual and accurate replies. Once a user taps on the quote, it takes them to the location of the message. Users can quote by tapping (on iOS, hold) the text, then "hold and drag to select text" and tap 'Quote'.

The replies can be forwarded to other chats, groups or channels using the "Reply in Another Chat" option, subject to the accessibility of the space of the original chat.

Telegram also announced that quote formatting can be added to any text, with the option for "multiple quotes" in a reply.

Enhancements For Link Previews

With new link preview options, the user can now change the size of the preview image, adjust the image below or above the message or choose a link to preview in case of multiple options. You can tap anywhere in the preview to open the link.

Story Enhancements

You can now rewind or fast-forward video clips in Stories via a press and hold on the screen and sliding left or right. For improved selfies, the front flash can adjust the warmth and intensity using the lightning icon at the top while using the selfie shooter.

Further, new tabs in the menu allow access to all settings of reply, forward and links. Premium users can customise the colour of their name, links and replies with new colour combination enhancements. Paid users can also choose an icon, which shall be added to a pattern to create a unique backdrop when users reply or quote these chats. These are available for channels with a Level 5 or later boost.
