WhatsApp has now announced a Snapchat-like feature which will be allowing users to send real-time video messages to other users. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday announced that the feature will be available for users in the coming weeks, with an update. Not only that, but he also showcased how the feature will work.
He took his official Facebook handle and showed how users will be able to share videos along with the caption. “New for WhatsApp -- we're adding the ability to instantly record and share a video message in your WhatsApp chats. It's as easy as sending a quick voice message,” he said.

Further, the users will be able to share short video messages, which should be 60 seconds long or less than that. The feature seems to be inspired by Snapchat, where users can record and share the video messages and once opened it gets deleted automatically.
How To Use Short Video Message Feature
Users will see the choice next to the voice note button on the right side of the chat as soon as they get their hands on it. All they have to do is switch to the video button and hold down the record button. According to sources, users can now swipe up to lock to record hands-free video.
When the videos are opened, they will be muted, but a tap on the video will enable the sound. Video messages, like chats and voice notes, are encrypted from beginning to end.
When compared to the in-app camera, video message features will have a more modern appearance, which may entice more consumers. It does not have a playback speed choice, but it does have voice note playback speed, which makes it enjoyable and convenient in a fast-paced world.
“A video message is as straightforward to send as a voice message. Simply tap to enter video mode and hold to record video. Users can also swipe up to lock the video and record it hands-free. When accessed in a chat, videos will play on silent by default, and pressing on the video will start the sound. End-to-end encryption protects video messages, ensuring the security of your messages,” the company said.
Video messages have begun to be rolling out and will be available to all in the coming weeks.
