WhatsApp Channels Update: Mark Zuckerberg recently introduced four new features for channel users on the app. The company is not willing to stop as it is now working on the option to let users transfer the ownership of a WhatsApp channel, according to WABetaInfo. It will reportedly be available in the future version of the app on Android and iOS.

According to the WhatsApp tracker, the option is being developed in beta "iOS 24.2.10.70" (on TestFlight) and "Android 2.24.2.17" versions. It is currently not rolling out for users on the app. Channel owners will have full control over a channel's content. As per the screengrab shared in the report, the new option will be available next to the "Dismiss as Admin" option.

For ownership transfer, the recipient must be a channel admin first. Also, once an owner transfers the ownership of a channel to admins, the move will be irreversible, and you cannot gain back access at your own will. Hence, once the feature is available in the future, you must exercise caution while transferring your channel to an admin. The ownership will be final with no second option to revoke access, according to the report.

Apart from the associated risks, it will also offer a range of benefits. The channel owner might have to transfer full control due to personal reasons or maintain the continuity of posts without disruptions. Plus, this can help people who use two WhatsApp accounts or want to consolidate access into one account. These options will be available in the channel info screen, likely in the coming weeks for testers.
