JE Technology Desk: WhatsApp continues to grab headlines for introducing new features and beta testing the upcoming ones on its app. In the latest move, the company is testing an option in its beta channel that allows a WhatsApp user to send high-quality videos on iPhones, according to WABetaInfo.

As per the report, the company is testing this option in the WhatsApp beta version marked 23.13.0.76 on iOS. Apart from this, the Meta-owned app is bringing enhancements to group chats, and it is available to some testers.

In the screengrab shared in the report, the latest testing build has an 'HD' option next to the crop switch once the user selects a video to share on the app. According to the report, unlike photos, "little compression" is applied to videos. This implies users cannot send videos in original quality. However, it is still better than the current protocol.

WhatsApp for iOS users will get two options while sharing videos: Standard quality and HD quality. Depending on their needs, users can opt for one of them. The report adds that feature does not apply to videos shared via status updates. One peculiar error in text noticed by the platform is that it states 'photos' instead of 'videos' in the feature description.

WABetaInfo, in a previous article, also shared details about the availability of the HD photos option. Photos sent via this feature are marked with an 'HD' tag within the message bubble on the bottom left, and the original details are preserved. Something similar was noticed by users in videos too.

As the feature is undergoing testing, beta users can update their app or wait for the option to debut on their version. The news outlet also shared a minor adjustment to profile icons in groups that now display the initials of a participant's name is also rolling out in this build. This will let other members better identify the sender of the message.
