WhatsApp, Meta's renowned messaging application is known for testing new features on the app. In the latest beta update for iPhone, the company is working to add view count to channel updates so that admins can keep track of the reach of their content on WhatsApp channels. According to WABetaInfo, the option will be available in a future version of the app on iOS.

As per the report, the channel update views are 'under development' and not rolling out to testers. The news outlet spotted the feature in the "24.8.10.74" version. The company was also earlier spotted developing the feature on Android. This option will allow channel owners and followers to know the reach and engagement of posts on a WhatsApp Channel.

Based on the screengrab shared in the report, the views count will appear inside the message bubble. This may also allow owners to get a rough idea to assess how many users have enabled notifications for their channel. For better transparency, these view counts will also be visible to channel viewers.

According to WABetaInfo, a channel post can act as a broadcasting medium with metrics to understand the reach and optimise content based on engagement. It can also help channel viewers assess compelling content for their followers based on views.

Speaking of other updates around WhatsApp Channels, the company is also working on the option to let businesses create verified channels. Spotted on the Android bets build '2.24.9.9'. According to WABetaInfo, the name of the channel should start with the business name. A business must subscribe to Meta Verified to take advantage of the feature.

A verified channel can help enhance the trust and credibility of the business on WhatsApp. Meanwhile, the company is also rolling out its Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp and Instagram for select users in India.
