WhatsApp, a popular messaging platform of Meta, is known for testing new features on the app. The company is now developing a new reaction notification feature for WhatsApp statuses. This builds on the latest status reaction feature which the platform was recently spotted developing on Android. According to WABetaInfo, the update will be available in a future version of the app.
The report noted the 'like reaction notification' is "under development" and not rolling out to testers. However, as it was spotted on the Android beta "2.24.9.29" update, beta users can keep their app updated via the Google Play Store to ensure they get to try out the feature whenever it starts rolling out. This update comes after the news of the 'quick reaction' feature for status updates.
The quick reaction option will allow users to react via a heart emoji. It seems the company could also share notifications whenever the status viewer reacts to a status. This option could be available in the 'Notifications' option within the 'Status' section. The 'Like reactions' toggle will "show notifications when you get likes on a status".

A user can switch off the toggle to not receive notifications. For the one who timely monitor who liked their status or shared a reaction, they can keep the option enabled. This feature will be helpful for those who are tired of notifications and have voluminous contacts responding to their status updates via quick reaction.
Plus, this will also act as a medium for users to enable notifications if they change their mind about getting updates later. Users should note that status reactions will not appear in the conversation list but in the Viewed status list of the uploader of a status. You can read more on this here.
