WhatsApp, an instant messaging application of Meta, grabs the limelight for testing new features and later introducing them on the platform. Continuing this series, the company is developing a 'favourites' category for users in the 'Chats' view. Moreover, Meta is also rolling out the option to forward video messages for beta users on Android, according to WABetaInfo.

According to the report, the favourites chats tab is undergoing development in the Android beta '2.24.9.33'. While it is not rolling out to testers, it is expected to be available soon. This can help allow users easy access to conversations of their favourite contacts and groups. As per the screengrab shared by the WhatsApp enthusiast, this chat filter will sit between the 'Unread' and 'Groups' options.

Users may get the option to choose their favourite contacts and groups from the category or the settings page. The filter will allow users to access these chats in a separate space for faster access to ensure users do not miss out on important messages. For context, the company was recently testing favourites for the calls tab to ensure calls to favourite contacts are a tap away.

Secondly, the company is also introducing a feature to let beta users forward outgoing video notes in WhatsApp Android beta '2.24.9.30'. For context, video notes are up to 60-second clips that can be recorded after long pressing the camera button in a chat window next to the message bar. With the feature, the company could let users easily share these video messages and eliminate the need to record a new one for a different contact.

As per the screengrab shared in the report, a forward icon is visible next to the video note that can set users free of walkarounds like recording a new note for resharing or using screen recorders. WABetaInfo noted that the option to forward voice notes is still not present on the platform as a privacy measure. However, the under-testing feature will be helpful for users who use the video notes feature frequently and help them save time.
