WhatsApp, an instant messaging application, continues to grab headlines in the news for adding new features. In the latest update, to amp up the user experience, the company is developing a message search by date option, according to WABetaInfo. This will allow users to easily search for conversations sent on a particular date to a user.
According to the report, the feature is in the development stage. In the coming days, the Meta-owned company could introduce the option for the web client. Currently, it is not live for beta testers. From the screengrab shared in the report, it can be inferred that the feature could be triggered using a calendar icon.
Clicking on this button will likely open a date picker from which users can select a date to filter conversations. The news tracker noted that the feature debuted on WhatsApp for iOS app with beta version: "22.24.0.77." The feature will be helpful to scan through a skewed series of messages to find the relevant ones quickly.

By heading back to messages shared on a specific date faster, the feature will also save users from endless scrolling. Plus, it will help in better sorting of messages. On a related note, the company also introduced a privacy relay feature for calls in the beta channel on iOS and Android. The aim was to make it difficult for bad actors to find locations based on the IP address.
Rolling out for testers, the feature will add an additional layer of security to calls. It will be present within the 'Advanced' section of privacy settings. According to the screenshot shared in the report of the "Protect IP address in calls" feature, the toggle aims "to make it harder for people to infer your [user] location, calls on this [user's] device will be securely relayed through WhatsApp servers. This will reduce call quality." You can read more about the feature here.
