X (formerly called Twitter) grabs media attention for new features for its premium tier of users. In some cases, these features debut without notice and prior knowledge from the leak channels. In other cases, they may get leaked via media reports and tipsters. Continuing the latter, Android Authority discovered strings of code for two new features on X that could possibly debut soon.

The first one, Enhanced Discovery, was spotted in the Android beta of X. The string of code having the mention of "blue_upsell" could imply that the feature may be exclusive to paying subscribers. "Subscribe to Premium to unlock enhanced discovery" has been mentioned in the code. This will enable users to explore relevant content around the source post.

"Similar posts lets you find relevant content related to the subject matter of a post," the text of the features in the string reads. It is unclear how the feature will help users discover similar content on the platform. In the current mechanism, users can filter searches via hashtags and keyword searches from the Explore page. An "Advanced search" is also available for users to further streamline output.

X Video and Audio Calls Coming Soon

The report further shared strings that mention the audio and video calling functionality. X owner Elon Musk had shared in the past that the feature is coming on the platform soon. An early preview of the feature in action was leaked by a user recently.

According to the Tesla CEO's post, the feature will work on Android, iOS, Mac and desktops. It will not require a phone number to function. On a related note, X also announced the ability for X Premium accounts to limit comments in specific posts to paying users only.

Once the feature is on, while free users can read the comments, they cannot engage in the reply box. Plus, the company scrapped web links from its platform's rich preview cards in posts. You can read more on this update here.
