Hyderabad News: N Rajalingamurthy, who accused former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) of corruption in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, was murdered days after his family claimed he was threatened and offered Rs 10 lakh to withdraw his case.
His wife, N Sarala, alleged that followers of BRS former MLA Gandra Venkatramana Reddy were involved in the attack. “My husband was threatened and offered money to drop the complaint,” she said, demanding justice for her two children.
Rajalingamurthy was killed on the outskirts of his village in Jayshankar Bhupalpally district, just before a high court hearing regarding his allegations. The Congress party has blamed the BRS for the murder, while police suggested it may be linked to land disputes.
In October 2023, Rajalingamurthy filed a complaint seeking a First Information Report (FIR) against KCR after issues arose with the Kaleshwaram project. KCR and former minister T Harish Rao later took the matter to the Telangana High Court, which suspended a previous order against them.
Venkatramana Reddy denied any involvement, stating, “I neither threatened nor offered money. He had land disputes, which may have led to his targeting.” The BRS also ruled out any role of its leaders in the murder. Congress spokesperson Addanki Dayakar claimed there is a clear connection, noting Rajalingamurthy was set to provide evidence regarding the irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project.
