Countries With The Highest Digital Competitiveness:  The digital era has changed the way countries compete in the global landscape. It is no surprise that digital competitiveness has become a key to economic growth, innovation, and the development of society. The recent 2025 IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking has highlighted the list of the top 10 countries that stand out on the digital ranking for having outstanding infrastructure, talent, innovation ecosystems, and readiness to embrace emerging technologies. These nations are flourishing with up-to-date technologies, modern vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Let’s take a look at the list of these top 10 countries, along with their digital ranking score and India’s position on the list.

1. Switzerland

Switzerland tops in the Digital Competitiveness Ranking, with a score of 100 out of 100. Switzerland has a strong digital talent and business agility, which is known due to its powerful infrastructure and economy supported by innovation. This is enabled by the country's commitment to research and development and well-established education systems, which give it an advantage in digital transformation. To your surprise, the nation has one of the most expensive internet services in the world

2. United States

The US is the second-best, scoring 99.29. As an innovation powerhouse in technology, the US has a strong digital talent base, top universities, and advanced technology companies. Its competitive advantage is maintained by its dominance in cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital services.

3. Singapore

Singapore is third with 99.18, and this is because it is a financial centre in the world that is well-integrated with advanced digital infrastructure and good governance. Singapore has a high rank due to its smart city efforts, artificial intelligence, and the use of digital public services that should be viewed as strategic investments. 

4. Hong Kong SAR

Hong Kong SAR is ranked in fourth position with 97.79. Hong Kong, as an open entry point to China and the world markets, boasts of advanced digital infrastructure and a thriving tech startup scene. 

5. Denmark

Denmark is ranked fifth with 97.23, with its close focus on digital government services and citizen engagement. The success of Denmark is due to its high rate of adoption of digital talents and high technologies. Sustainability and innovation as the priorities of the country also contribute greatly to its image as one of the leading digital economies.

6. Netherlands

With a 96.82 score, it ranks sixth in the Netherlands. The Netherlands boasts of sophisticated broadband landscape and an innovative climate that facilitates a successful digital economy. Its open data policies, investments in AI and cybersecurity make it digitally mature and competitive.

7. Canada

Canada has been listed as position seven with 96.19 because the country has a varied and skilled force in the field of digital work and good innovations. The competitiveness of Canada is based on its consistent investments in digital infrastructure and the study of AI. 

8. Sweden

Sweden has a 95.42 score that ranks it at position 8 due to its reputation with respect to leadership in terms of innovation and technology. Sweden has a robust digital economy that benefits from good connectivity rates, digital capabilities, and a business environment. 

9. UAE

The UAE, with a rating of 93.38 in position nine, is quickly becoming a digital leader in the Middle East, spending heavily on smart city projects, digital infrastructure, and the use of AI. 

10. Chinese Taipei (Taiwan)

Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) is in 10th place with a score of 93.12. Taiwan, with its semiconductor business and hardware production capabilities, is known to have digital competitiveness, which is supported by technological innovation and integration of global supply chains. 

India’s Position On The List:

India does not rank among the top 10 countries with the highest digital competitiveness. Instead, the nation of a billion ranks at 50th position with a digital competitiveness score of 57. There is a long way for the nation to go with more modern invitations and visions to build a digitally-awakened nation.
