After the success of Superman, James Gunn is all set for the sequel, Superman: Man of Tomorrow. The new superhero in the town, David Corenswet, is back to wear the Superman costume again. You can see him in theatres in less than 2 years, as it is set to release on July 9, 2027. The announcement came via an official post on X, which features Superman and Lex Luther in an animated version. Luther dons his signature war armour while Superman looks at the former, holding a screwdriver in style. Fans can anticipate some high-tech confrontation between them.

Sharing the poster, James Gunn tweeted, “Man of Tomorrow. In theatres July 9, 2027.” Elated fans shows their excitement over the announcement. A fan said, “Having them team up after the ending of the last film to presumably take on brainiac would be amazing. Perfect fits the arc thematically and shows how superman continues to try and see the best in people, even if they don’t deserve it.” Another said, “Honest question, James: Wouldn't you have more fun directing a Justice Gang movie?” A tweet read, “Is he gonna win a fight in this one?” A user suggested, “Please consider a stronger, darker villain…maybe Braniac or even Zod even tho it’s already been done….Superman should be forced to grow from his boyish idealism and more into the commanding figure that leads the Justice League.”

Earlier, James Gunn said that he was working on the DC Studios featuring Superman. But he did not mention if it is the sequel to the superhero film. As per reports, the production of the film began in 2026. Gunn and producer Peter Safran have been appointed as the heads of newly established DC Studios.
