Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan has added another milestone in his illustrious career as he has been elected president of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) during Biennial National Convention on Saturday. Nolan, one of the most successful helmers of his generation, has been active in the DGA for some time and is currently a member of its National Board of Directors. Sharing his excitement, Nolan called it 'one of the greatest honours' of his career.

Nolan is the newly appointed president of the Director's Guild of America, succeeding Lesli Linka Glatter, who served two terms at the helm and was first elected in 2021, according to a Variety report.
He expressed his gratitude to Glatter for her leadership in the Guild of America, acknowledging her contributions.

The filmmaker said, “To be elected President of the Directors Guild of America is one of the greatest honors of my career. Our industry is experiencing tremendous change, and I thank the Guild’s membership for entrusting me with this responsibility. I also want to thank President Glatter for her leadership over the past four years. I look forward to collaborating with her and the newly elected Board to achieve important creative and economic protections for our members.”
Nolan’s election marks a rare example of an A-list filmmaker taking the helm of the major union at the peak of their professional career. Nolan has won two Oscars for his 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer. He has established himself as one of the most versatile and influential directors in the film industry. His celebrated filmography includes Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception and many others.
Meanwhile, Nolan is currently working on his next and much-awaited directorial venture, The Odyssey, an epic adventure story set for release in July 2026. The film, which is a spiritual sequel to the blockbuster 2023 release Oppenheimer, will be ditrubited by Universal Pictures. The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, among many others.
