How to Play NYT Strands

  1. Locate theme words to complete the board
  2. Once found, theme words will be highlighted in blue
  3. Create words by dragging or tapping letters. If tapping, double-tap the final letter to submit
  4. Theme words will fully fill the board without overlapping
  5. Discover the "spangram"
  6. The spangram reveals the puzzle's theme and spans two opposite sides of the board (it may consist of two words)
  7. When found, the spangram is highlighted in yellow.

Find non-theme words to unlock hints.

For every three non-theme words you discover, you’ll earn a hint.

Hints reveal the letters of a theme word. If a hint is already active, it will display the letter order of that word.
