A never-before-seen video played during a US congressional hearing this week has reignited debates over unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), commonly referred to as UFOs. The footage, captured by a US MQ-9 Reaper drone on October 30, 2024, shows a Hellfire missile bouncing off a mysterious orb-like object over the waters near Yemen.

The video, declassified only recently, was shared by Rep. Eric Burlison during a House Oversight subcommittee hearing on UAPs on Tuesday. “I’m not going to explain it to you, you’ll see exactly what it does,” Burlison said as he played the clip.

The overhead footage shows a fast-moving shiny object gliding in a straight trajectory just above the waves. Moments later, a Hellfire missile, reportedly fired from another Reaper drone, appears to strike the orb. Instead of being destroyed, the object seemingly absorbs the impact and continues moving unharmed and unaltered.

Veteran UAP journalist George Knapp, who testified at the hearing, reacted in disbelief: “And it kept going. What the hell is that?”

A Combat Zone In Yemen

At the time the footage was captured, the waters off Yemen were an active combat zone. US Navy vessels and aircraft were deployed to protect commercial shipping lanes from frequent Houthi militant missile and drone attacks. The US military regularly intercepted incoming threats in the region.

This raises a critical question: Was the unidentified orb part of a hostile strike or something entirely different? Military officials have not confirmed whether the object posed any threat to US or allied forces.

Questions Without Answers

The extraordinary footage has fueled speculation about UAP capabilities and the military’s limited understanding of them. Among the questions raised are:

Why did the missile appear to have no effect on the object?

Could the orb represent advanced technology, either foreign or unknown?

Was this an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern of UAP encounters in combat zones?

Investigative journalist George Knapp, who has covered UAPs for decades, criticized the secrecy around such material: “The public should be seeing this stuff, and why you’re not allowed to, I don’t know.”

The hearing included testimony from government officials, military veterans, and journalists advocating for greater transparency on UAP encounters. The video adds to a growing body of evidence suggesting UAPs are not only real but potentially interact with advanced US weapon systems in inexplicable ways.
