Reddit Contributor Program: Reddit announced that it is rolling out an update for Reddit Gold and introducing a program for Redditors and moderators to earn money on the platform. The new Contributor program will help users claim real money as rewards for their content and contributions to the platform. The move seems inspired by the revenue-sharing program introduced by X (formerly called Twitter). 

To join the program, all Redditors should meet certain requirements and complete a verification procedure. The eligibility includes a user who must be 18+, placed in a location where the program is live (US to begin with) and an account with a good background, among other requirements.

Eligible contributions will churn out real money for Redditors, according to Reddit. Once a user completes the verification process, the payments will be dispersed every month and the earnings will be calculated "based on the amount of karma earned and gold received on their eligible contributions," the social media company added.

It has started rolling out in the US across platforms (smartphone apps and web). Users can navigate to the Contributor Program via the profile menu. Once eligible, users will be able to tap the 'Get Verified to Start Earning' button. Complete the process from here. An account must also be "30+ days old" to be eligible.

Additionally, an account must make the "qualifying contributions" on Reddit within the previous year. These include receiving a minimum of "100 karma over 12 months" and "earning 10 gold." An eligible Redditor must provide a verified email address, legal name, date of birth, country of residence and a government ID.

The company has collaborated with Stripe to disperse funds. A Stripe Connect Account with details including address, Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), Government ID and Bank account and routing number or debit card number must be shared.
