The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to widen the entry point to the South Side GT Road industrial area in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, to alleviate daily traffic congestion at the Dundehra underpass. Preparatory work, including the drafting of plans, has already begun, and construction is expected to start by the end of this month.
Currently, drivers travelling from Delhi towards ABES College, Crossing Republik, Shahberi, and Chipiyana must enter the industrial area through a narrow opening beyond the Dundehra underpass. This single-lane entry is also used by vehicles leaving the industrial area towards Lalkuan, causing significant traffic jams on NH-9 during peak morning and evening hours.

Entrepreneurs had earlier raised the issue during a Udyog Bandhu (industry friends) meeting with former District Magistrate Deepak Meena, who instructed NHAI officials to address the problem.
However, no action was initiated at that time. When the matter was brought to the attention of the current District Magistrate, Ravindra Kumar Mandar, NHAI officials informed him that drawings for widening the entry are being prepared and project costs are being estimated. Both tasks are expected to be completed within 15 days, after which construction will begin following approval from senior authorities.
The District Magistrate stated that the objective is to complete the widening work by October, providing relief to commuters and reducing congestion on NH-9.
