The UP government has released nearly Rs 250 crore to the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) to expedite key infrastructure projects in the city. The funds, issued by the Housing and Urban Planning Department from the Establishment Fund, will be utilised for four major development works under the city’s comprehensive development plan.

Providing details, GDA Vice-Chairman Atul Vats said that the Authority had submitted proposals to the government, which were later reviewed by the Chief Minister. The most significant among them is the construction of a slip road on the Rajnagar Extension elevated road, connecting Delhi and facilitating exits towards Vasundhara and Indirapuram.

The government has approved Rs 200 crore for this project. Once completed, the slip road will directly benefit thousands of commuters from Siddharth Vihar, Vasundhara, and Indirapuram who currently face long detours due to the absence of an exit route.

The government has also sought a detailed report on the slip road project within a week to enable timely fund disbursal.

In addition, three other projects have received financial approval, Rs 3 crore for a 24-metre wide road with sewerage and drainage connecting Noor Nagar village in Raj Nagar Extension; Rs 36 crore for widening the zonal road linking Meerut Road (NH-58) to the Outer Ring Road, including drainage and sewerage work; and Rs 11.74 crore for constructing a 30-metre wide zonal road equipped with drainage and sewerage systems.

According to Vats, these projects will not only decongest city traffic but also accelerate overall urban development in Ghaziabad.
