Gomti Nagar Crime: Minor Student Drugged, Raped In Hotel; Accused Jailed Under POCSO Act

Cases of rape involving minors are reportedly on the rise in Lucknow, with the second such case involving a minor being reported in the last ten days.

This recent incident, which has caused a stir, occurred in the city's affluent Gomti Nagar area. According to the report, Tauqeer from Indira Nagar befriended a 12th-grade student on Instagram. He then invited the minor to meet him at the DLF My Pad hotel.

At the hotel, Tauqeer allegedly drugged the student and raped her.

When the minor's family learned of the incident, they arrived at the location, apprehended the accused, Tauqeer, and handed him over to the police.

Following a complaint from the minor's family, a case has been registered under the POCSO Act and relevant rape sections at the Vibhuti Khand police station. The accused has been arrested and sent to jail.
