The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will soon assess the real progress of its ambitious ‘smart villages’ project. CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh is set to visit all 29 villages to review the development work on-site and match it against the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The inspection will focus on funds sanctioned, expenditure incurred, and facilities actually delivered. While YEIDA claims nine villages have been fully developed under the first phase, with work ongoing in another nine, villagers allege they have yet to benefit from sewer and drinking water lines despite their installation.

Dainik Jagran had earlier reported how residents remain without a functional water supply or sewer connections, even after years of demands. Singh has assured that shortcomings will be identified and rectified, raising hopes that water and sewer services may finally begin.
The authority has earmarked an average budget of Rs 8-10 lakh per village, promising infrastructure such as paved roads, sewers, water pipelines, streetlights, waste management systems, playgrounds, e-libraries, skill development centres, and internet facilities.
