Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway: Providing a major infrastructural boost to Uttar Pradesh, the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is preparing to open in June for commuters. As soon as Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway opens, traffic at Gahru crossing is expected to increase as the vehicles which are diverted from Dahi Chowki in between will start coming directly on the main national highway, jagran.com reported. Additionally, there will be an elevated road of the expressway on top while the old Lucknow-Unnao-Kanpur national highway will be below. The crowd coming from the Outer Ring Road and Piparsand Road at a distance of half a kilometre will stop at this junction. Road engineering experts are not active about the jam at this junction.

Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway May Open In June
When the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway starts operating from June, traffic jams are certain as the number of vehicles on the Outer Ring Road is also estimated to increase by 20 to 30 per cent. Due to this, the condition of Gahru crossing can also become like that of Awadh crossing of Alambagh.

After constructing a 105-km outer ring road around the capital, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is equipping it with CCTVs.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) has been installed at various places, police post near Mati and first aid facility has been upgraded. At present, the number of vehicles on the ring road has reached around 1.25 lakh. No strategy has been made so far to ensure that vehicles do not get stuck in traffic jam at Gahru crossing.
Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway To Open By June 2025
The work on Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is going on at a fast pace. The work of elevated and green field is about 80 per cent complete. "NHAI is trying to make it operational by June 2025 at any cost. Many improvements have been made on the Outer Ring Road and some are ongoing. The number of vehicles on the ring road is increasing every day. Wherever the ring road is connecting to the main road, the traffic load is expected to increase," said Saurabh Chaurasia, Project Director, Lucknow, NHAI, as quoted by jagran.com.
