In another update, Indian Railways introduced a QR code-based ticket booking system, offering a seamless digital solution for passengers during the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This initiative allows travellers to scan QR codes on railway staff uniforms or posters in the Mahakumbh Mela area to book tickets conveniently.
Passengers can use their smartphones to scan the QR code, which redirects them to download the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) app from the Google Play Store. The app enables the booking of tickets for short trips (50-100 km) and long-distance journeys exceeding 200 km, with advanced booking available for up to 15 days for the latter.
