GAIL Gas Limited has announced a Diwali gift for domestic consumers and car owners, reducing prices for both by Rs 1.50.

Following the price cut, domestic PNG will now cost Rs 51 per unit, and CNG will be priced at Rs 87.10 per kg. The price for industrial and commercial PNG has not been reduced.

Vinay Kumar, General Manager of GAIL Gas Limited's Meerut region, announced that these new rates will be effective from October 17.

In related news from Meerut, the air quality has already started to deteriorate ahead of Diwali. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has remained around 300 between 9 pm and 11 am. Environmentalists have expressed concerns that the air quality will become "severely poor" on October 20th and 21st, with the AQI potentially reaching approximately 400.
