Train services on the Muzaffarpur-Motihari rail section were disrupted when decorative lights from a four-storey building located beside the railway line, beyond the Maripur overbridge, fell onto the railway's overhead equipment (OHE) wire.
The incident immediately caused the power to trip. A department official investigated and alerted the control room, which then cut power to the OHE on 20 railway lines as a safety measure. Consequently, several trains, including the Lichchhavi Express, Sadbhavna Express, the Up Raxaul train, and other trains, were halted at the junction.
Upon receiving the information, TI Manoj Kumar, TRD engineer Amarendra Kumar Chaubey, and RPF ASI Rajendra Singh arrived at the scene. The team removed the decorative lights entangled in the OHE wire. The lights were seized and handed over to the RPF.
Following the incident, TRD engineer Amarendra Kumar Chaubey filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown persons. RPF Inspector Manish Kumar stated that an investigation is underway following the filing of the FIR, but no arrests have been made so far.
