The Meerut industrial corridor, one of 27 such zones being developed along Uttar Pradesh's expressways, has become the top choice for leading domestic and international companies. Spurred by over 1,000 investment proposals, the government has fast-tracked its development, initiating the layout planning process even before the land acquisition is fully complete.

The corridor in Meerut will be developed in two phases over more than 500 hectares of land, which is being purchased directly from farmers through mutual consent.

Phase 1: For the 214-hectare first phase, 165 hectares have already been acquired.

Phase 2: The process for acquiring the remaining land for the 300-hectare second phase is being expedited, following a recent directive from the state's Chief Secretary to complete the process at the earliest.

District Magistrate Dr VK Singh confirmed, "The consultant agency's team has started work on preparing the layout plan. The tehsil team has been assigned to complete the land purchase shortly."

Layout, Planning And Oversight

The consultant agency, a joint venture of Chaitanya Projects and Translic Infrastructure, has already begun survey and planning work on-site. The comprehensive layout plan will include:

- Demarcated zones for production units and logistics facilities.

- Dedicated areas for essential services.

- A complete map for infrastructure like electricity, water, roads, fire fighting and public toilets.

To ensure a smooth process, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has formed a committee of officials to resolve any issues that arise during the planning stage.
