In a major boost for natural farmers, the National Centre of Organic and Natural Farming (NCONF) has launched a natural certification system across Ghaziabaunder Mission Natural Farming. Farmers practising chemical-free farming will now be able to obtain a certificate within six months of registration, allowing them to sell their produce in the market with a “natural” tag.

Farmers already engaged in natural farming will receive immediate certification after quality verification. The NCONF is also developing a dedicated mobile app and portal, set to be available by the end of the Kharif season, to facilitate this process.

The certification will cover the entire process, from cultivation to marketing. Certified produce will carry the PGS India Natural logo, with traceability details and proper packaging. The initiative promotes multi-cropping, soil and moisture conservation, and chemical-free agricultural practices.

Small farmers will benefit as they can directly sell their products, similar to branded milk, through National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), which will ensure quality checks. Dr Gaganesh Sharma, Director of NCONF, highlighted that this system empowers farmers and strengthens the market for natural, chemical-free produce.
