The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has expedited preparations for the new Harnandipuram Township. The authority has selected a consulting agency to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and layout, which, based on suggestions from officials, will deliver a presentation on the DPR and layout for 100 hectares of land in the first phase.
The consulting agency preparing the DPR and layout will give a presentation to the GDA on January 7. During this, a rough draft of the DPR and layout for approximately 100 hectares of land will be presented.
This will include the preliminary design for roads, sewerage, water supply, electricity, green areas, and other infrastructure. After the presentation, the GDA will provide necessary suggestions before approving the final DPR, after which the development work for the township will proceed.
The Harnandipuram Township will be developed in two phases over an area of 521 hectares. Land will be purchased from farmers in eight villages, with the township being developed on 350 hectares of land from five of these villages in the first phase.
The GDA has so far completed the sale deeds (bainama) for about 55 hectares of land, while an agreement has been reached with farmers for another 115 hectares, for which the sale deeds will be executed soon. The authority has also begun preparations to launch the first phase of the scheme.
In the presentation to be given by the agency on January 7, a complete outline for developing the 100-hectare area will be presented. Following this, the agency will prepare the DPR and layout, which will also include the design of the basic infrastructure.

Under the DPR, locations will be designated within the township for a drainage system, wide roads, green areas, residential and commercial plots, health services, and educational and social facilities. Better and accessible facilities will be provided throughout the entire scheme on a sector-wise (pocket-war) basis.
In the upcoming financial year, Rs 1,200 crore will be spent on land acquisition for the scheme. Of this, Rs 400 crore has been received from the government under the Chief Minister's Urban Expansion Scheme, while the GDA will spend Rs 800 crore itself.
“An agency has been finalised to develop Harnandipuram. After the presentation on January 7, the DPR and layout for the first phase will be prepared. Preparations are underway for this,” said Nand Kishore Kalal, Vice-Chairman, GDA.
