The much-awaited inauguration date for the Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport) is likely to be finalised on Saturday as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath i set to arrive at 11:40 am to inspect the airport construction work.
During his visit, he will stay at the airport premises for about an hour. From there, he will depart for Ghaziabad's Hindon Airport at 12:40 pm and from there, he will travel to Delhi.
According to a report by Jagran.com, CM Yoi is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to request an appointment for the Jewar Airport's inauguration.
The inauguration date will be announced after the prime minister's appointment will be finalised. Jagran reported, based on sources, that the airport could be inaugurated in the first or second week of November.
The construction of the first phase of the Noida International Airport being built in Jewar was scheduled to be completed by September 29, 2024. Due to the delay in completion within the stipulated time, an additional three months were extended, setting the inauguration target for December 2024. However, there were repeated delays but the construction was not completed within the stipulated timeframe.
At a meeting held in Lucknow on March 10, under the chairmanship of CM Yogi, the construction period was extended until the end of June. Due to monsoon rains and holidays, construction work was delayed again.

Earlier, Union Civil Aviation Minister KinjarapuRammohan Naidu announced October 30 as the date for the inauguration at an event held in Ghaziabad.
However, there is no possibility of the airport's inauguration on October 30 and the new date may be decided by CM Yogi's visit on Saturday.
The inauguration of the Noida International Airport, being developed in Jewar as the country's largest airport, is eagerly awaited.
It is reported that CM Yogi Adityanath had given clear instructions that the airport will only be inaugurated after 100 per cent completion of the construction work.
Giving the update about the construction work, Rakesh Kumar Singh, CEO of Yamuna Authority and NIAL, said that the construction work has been completed.
Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd, the Indian SPV company of the Swiss company Zurich Airport International AG, will start with one runway spread over 1,334 hectares. Currently, there is a runway 3,900 meters long and 60 meters wide. A second runway will be constructed when the annual passenger count reaches 1.2 million. Initially, cargo and domestic air services are likely to start. For this, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) may soon issue an aerodrome license. Initially, 5 million passengers are expected to be there annually.
