The Noida Authority has taken a significant step forward in the construction of the proposed elevated road along the Yamuna embankment. Industrial Development Commissioner (IDC) Deepak Kumar recently chaired a review meeting, during which the Authority presented the complete project plan and progress details.

Officials explained that the elevated road will provide direct connectivity between Delhi, Noida, and the upcoming Noida International Airport. The project aims to ease traffic congestion on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which currently handles over 10 lakh vehicles daily.

During the meeting, the Authority highlighted a budget deficit and requested that the road be declared a National Highway (NH) to enable funding from the Centre. A demand was also raised for an early No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Irrigation Department. The Authority expects key actions from both the government and the department by November.

Earlier, the Public Works Department (PWD) had sought details related to the proposed Pushta elevated road, including construction location, design, and connectivity. This information has now been submitted, and the government is set to forward the PWD report to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for consideration. Once designated as a National Highway, the project will be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The Noida Authority board has already approved the proposal, deciding that the elevated road will be constructed by UPEIDA, with funding shared among Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authorities. Initially planned as a six-lane elevated and eight-lane ground-level expressway, the project will now consist solely of a six-lane elevated structure extending from Okhla Barrage to the Yamuna Expressway via Hindon-Yamuna.

Noida Authority CEO Dr Lokesh M stated that all board-approved decisions will be implemented, emphasising that the project holds major importance considering the increasing vehicular load in the region.
