Preparations have been completed for the upcoming Poshan Pakhwada campaign, set to run in UP’s Mau district from April 8 to April 22. The campaign will be officially launched on Tuesday by Chief Development Officer Prashant Nagar at Vikas Bhawan.
The initiative aims to identify and improve the health of Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) and Moderately Acute Malnourished (MAM) children through focused medical and nutritional intervention. Asha workers, ANMs, and Anganwadi workers have been assigned key responsibilities to ensure the campaign's success.
The campaign will unfold in five structured phases:
Identification of SAM/MAM children.
Assessment of children's appetite.
Medical check-ups and treatment.
Nutritional support and management.
Follow-up care by frontline workers.
District Magistrate Praveen Mishra has already held review meetings, issuing detailed directives to CDPOs and Block Development Officers to ensure that all identified SAM/MAM children are admitted to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) and provided with proper care.
According to the ICDS office, all logistical and operational arrangements have been finalised. Field teams will visit every village to screen children. The campaign is part of the government’s broader mission to improve child health and reduce malnutrition.
“Improving the health of children is a key government priority. Children will receive necessary medical care and nutrition to prevent malnourishment,” said Ajit Kumar Singh, District Program Officer.
