Passengers at railway stations will soon have access to better food and breakfast options. Following significant amendments to the catering policy by the Railway Board, food outlets of famous brands will soon be visible at stations, offering facilities similar to those found at airports.
Currently, approximately 35 pairs of trains pass through the station, with a large number of passengers travelling daily. Keeping passenger convenience in mind, the Railways has decided to upgrade its food services. Under the new policy, renowned brands will now be able to sell their products at railway stations. This move will not only ensure passengers receive hygienic and high-quality food but will also significantly expand their dining choices.
Until now, only traditional items like tea, biscuits, and snacks were available at general stalls. However, once the new system is implemented, passengers will have access to premium food facilities. Commercial Inspector In-charge DD Shukla explained that under the Railway's Catering Policy of 2017, catering stalls were previously allotted in categories such as Tea Stalls, Milk Bars, and Juice Bars. Tea stalls offered tea with biscuits and snacks, while Juice Bars provided milk-based products.

With the recent changes to the catering policy, a "Premium Brand Outlet" category has been introduced. Outlets in this category will be allocated for a period of five years through an e-auction process. This amendment paves the way for major brands like Haldiram's, Bikanerwala, McDonald's and Pizza Hut to open outlets at railway stations.
