The SIR (Special Intensive Revision) campaign for voters will commence today in 12 states across the country, including Uttar Pradesh. In Meerut district, starting today, Tuesday, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every voter's home to provide an enumeration form. This form must be filled out and returned by the voter. If the form is not returned, the voter's name will be deleted from the electoral roll. These enumeration forms were printed and arrived at the District Election Office on Monday. Starting Tuesday, BLOs from 2,758 booths will begin distributing them to voters' homes. Currently, there are 2,699,820 voters registered on the district's list.
Filling The Form Is Easy, BLOs Will Assist
Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, every voter must fill out the enumeration form and provide it to the BLO. Assistant District Election Officer Alok Sharma stated that over 54 lakh enumeration forms have been printed and procured for the SIR campaign in the district.
BLOs visiting each voter's home will provide the form in duplicate. After it is filled, the BLO will take back one copy and provide a receipt on the second copy. The enumeration forms began arriving at the office on Monday. The form requires the voter to fill in details such as date of birth, Aadhaar number, parents' names, and mobile number.
If the voter's name was on the 2003 electoral roll, that information must also be provided. Those who already possess a voter card must also write their EPIC (Elector's Photo Identity Card) number on the form. A recent passport-size photograph must be affixed, along with a signature or thumb impression at the bottom.
Assembly Voter Lists Are Frozen
The Election Commission of India froze the assembly constituency electoral rolls as soon as the SIR campaign was announced for the 12 states. As of October 29, 2025, the electoral rolls for Meerut district contain 2,699,820 registered voters. All of these names will be verified. Additionally, BLOs will also provide Form 6 for adding new voters, Form 7 for requesting the deletion of a name, and Form 8 for making corrections.
