Two women were allegedly thrashed and humiliated by the sons of a state minister and their gunner in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur on Saturday. A video of the incident, showing a gunner in a police uniform and two others beating the women and tearing their clothes has gone viral on social media.
In their police complaint, the women accused that they were being forced to vacate their piece of ancestral land at the behest of the minister. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Urban Development Rakesh Rathore denied the allegations and said that it was a conspiracy to defame him.

The minister said that the women were related to his driver and had a land dispute with him, which was pending in the court. He stated that he had nothing to do with the incident and his sons were just separating the individuals fighting during a brawl that broke out at the roadside.
Police have ordered an inquiry into the matter and said that an FIR will be lodged after verifying the facts. Sitapur Circle Officer Sushil Singh said that all the aspects of the case were being investigated and further action would be taken accordingly.
