A wedding scheduled for Thursday between a family from Nahal village (Ghaziabad) and a groom from SheikhpurKhichra (Hapur) was abruptly cancelled due to dramatic developments at both locations. While the groom failed to arrive due to an intervention by a woman claiming to be his partner, the bride's family has filed a police complaint alleging that the groom's side refused to come because their demand for a car was not met.
Scene 1: Disruption At Groom’s Village
The Intervention during Nikasi
The groom, Sonu (alias Maroof), was preparing for his nikasi (pre-wedding procession) in his village when a young woman arrived and created a significant commotion.
Allegations: The woman claimed she was already the groom's wife. She alleged that Sonu had engaged in physical relations with her multiple times under the pretext of marriage.
Police Involvement: The woman called the police to the scene. Officers from the Dhaulana police station arrived, where the woman presented photos and videos of herself with Sonu as evidence.
Outcome: Due to the uproar, the nikasi could not proceed, and the groom was unable to leave for the wedding venue.
Legal Status: Station House Officer Manish Chauhan stated that a compromise was subsequently reached between Sonu and the woman. Following this settlement, neither party filed a formal complaint at the Dhaulana police station.
Scene 2: Chaos At Bride’s Village
Guests Stranded: In Nahal village which comes under Masuri police station, preparations were complete for the wedding of Suleman’s daughter.
Approximately 150 guests from the wedding party (barat) had already arrived and were served refreshments and meals. As time passed and the groom, his father, and his brothers failed to appear, the guests began to slip away.
The absence of the groom caused panic among the bride’s family, turning the atmosphere of joy into sorrow.

Dowry Allegations
Upon realising the groom was not coming, Suleman contacted the groom's family.
The Demand: Suleman alleged that an agreement had been reached to give a Bullet motorcycle as dowry. However, the groom's family reportedly became adamant about demanding a Swift car instead.
The Ultimatum: According to the complaint, when Suleman called, the groom’s brother, Azad, clearly stated that the wedding would not take place unless the car was provided.
Police Action
Masuri Police Station Suleman has filed a formal report alleging that the wedding procession did not arrive because his family failed to meet the dowry demand for a car.
Accused: The case has been filed against the groom, Sonu (alias Maroof), and his brothers Azad, Rashid and Aamir.
Status: Masuri police have registered the complaint and are investigating the matter.
