The year-long dispute over the length of the bow string girder for the railway underpass at the Kajjakpura railway overbridge (ROB), constructed using portable frame technology, has finally been resolved.

Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation has completed the construction of pillars on both sides, but further progress is stalled due to the pending No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Railway Board for girder placement.

To expedite work once approval is granted, the State Bridge Corporation has already procured most of the required equipment for the bow string girder. However, a few days ago, the Railway had declined the NOC, citing that train operations could not be disrupted during Kumbh.

Initially, Rajkiya Setu Nigam submitted a revised girder design to the Railway Board, which was rejected due to technical concerns. After multiple correspondences and meetings, the design has now been finalised, with the girder’s length set at 64 meters.

According to officials, the launching scheme process is complete, and the file has been sent to the Railway Board for approval, expected by March. Once received, Rajkiya Setu Nigam will begin preparations for girder placement.

Despite the progress, no official has commented on the launching scheme details.
